I have to confess I'm worried about your hair. California doesn't have a lot of humidity, but San Francisco DOES. 85-90% humidity is not unusual in the summer, especially July. Eeek!!!
Oh please do not go to El Pollo Loco! They have gone downnnnhill. If my brain were actually functioning right now I could give you some ideas since I grew up there, but it's not, so you are SOL. :P

And on the tourist front: you got it! Dottie's: check! And there used to be a taqueria El Pollo Loco, way out in the Outer Mission. I couldn't Google it up, but I found this place, El Pollo Supremo, which was described by a Yelp-er as the thing that "filled the void" left by El Pollo Loco in LA.
